Journalism Education Seminars

To help educate the next generation of journalists, Poynter provides courses to support the development of journalism educators and students.

In 2002 we have two seminars specifically for college journalism educators. In one, youšll learn how to use the Internet to enrich and expand reporting. In the other seminar, youšll learn ways to teach students to strengthen their reporting and writing through a heightened awareness of diversity issues. We also invite educators to apply to the professional seminars and conferences described in this catalog, and reserve one or two places for them. Poynter waives tuition and pays travel and hotel expenses for educators attending these programs.

College students nearing graduation have three opportunities to learn at Poynter. You can spend your spring break with us learning from working journalists about the real world of journalism. Or you can spend six weeks at Poynter in the summer learning more about newswriting and reporting or exploring design, photojournalism, and web production.
