Broadcast/Online Journalism Seminars

Broadcast is facing reductions in advertising sales and rates, cuts in staff and spending, and new ownership rules. No one's sure how convergence efforts will affect any segment of the media, and online news is struggling to find its place. The constant in all this change is the need for broadcast and online news practitioners to develop the thinking and the skills necessary to keep journalism strong.

Poynter's broadcast and online seminars provide news managers, editors, reporters, producers, anchors, artists, and photojournalists with practical training to achieve success. You'll improve your writing, coaching, and ethical decision-making abilities. You'll cover effective storytelling and presentation, multimedia reporting, and the challenges of leadership. You'll examine the tension between business and journalism values, and gain an understanding of how and why both can succeed. You'll explore the ways technology has changed the role of journalists and the way information is gathered, packaged, and distributed.

Whether you're a broadcast or online journalist or you work in a ³converged² newsroom, you'll leave Poynter with practical and creative ways to share what you've learned with colleagues and a new energy and enthusiasm for your work.
