Visual Edge Workshop and Conference (GVE)

Workshop Only Tuition/Hotel (5 nights): $400
Conference Only Tuition: $300 Hotel: $94 + tax/night

Who Will Benefit:
Print, online, and television photographers, photo editors, and designers. Workshop registration is limited to 24 participants. There will also be a concurrent conference and technology expo with a limit of 50 participants.
Description:

This seminar is a joint effort of Poynter and NPPA. Participants will learn how convergence is affecting print, electronic media, and video. You'll explore the latest improvements in archiving and technology, grapple with issues related to leadership and production, and have access to a variety of computer courses. You'll work in teams to cover assignments in the Tampa Bay area using the latest equipment and software. Working together, you'll present stories in a multimedia form, incorporating audio and video editing.

The Visual Edge conference attendees will experience a rich variety of learning opportunities over the three-day period. They will be able to observe the workings of the digital workshop, attend lectures and presentations made by workshop faculty members during the day, attend the three exciting evening presentations—"The Evening With…,"and attend the new Technology Expo in the Poynter Pavilion.

Workshop and Conference attendees are responsible for their own transportation throughout the week.

  • Brief, up-to-date professional biography to be used in the seminar syllabus.
  • Letter of recommendation from nominating manager or supervisor.
  • Attach a statement or essay describing your daily duties, the relevance of the seminar to your job, your goals for the seminar, and how you will apply the information back in your newsroom.
  • Do not send check for tuition until you are notified of acceptance into the seminar for which you are applying
