Take 18 photographers and editors.

Get them talking about their own personal missions as visual journalists. Then go one step further and get them imagining a new assigning process that links the publication and the photo department.

Divide them into groups, let them them work a little magic and what do you get?

At Poynter's seminar, Newspaper Photojournalism: Assigning and Integrating Photography, participants came up with innovative ways to change the assigning process and new ways to spread the good news.

Team 1 took a straight forward approach to their mission statement and an improved visual request form. Team 2 had a few thoughts on the editorial process as well as a suggestion to have new employees take an oath. And their request form was simple and innovative.
Team 3 thought that people needed to be reminded constantly of their mission and created a poster and a business card along with a new request form. Team 4 took a more humorous approach to their mission statement with an entertaining skit.
